Svitan means Svidnik´s dance group. It was created in town Svidnik (Slovakia) in 1998. The leader and the head choreographer is Mgr. Viktoria Husarova, Dip. Dance teacher. The members of the group dance especially in couples. They present the ballroom dances standard and latin as waltz, tango, quickstep, cha-cha-cha, rumba, samba, jive, salsa, merengue, etc. There are also slovak folk dances in svitan´s repertoire like čardáš, karička, polka, krúcená, etc. In folk performances there are typical folk songs which are performed by the members.
      There are 10 members from 19 to 30 years old in the group. All the members have more than 5 years dance practice; three of them have been dancing in Svitan from its start-up.

      There are many dance projects which was made by Svitan during 11 years. They made dance performances for example The dance history, cabarets (The Little Pub and Little Pub in Brazil), authorized dancing stories (The way we are and Wonderful Holiday), dance story based on famous film Someone likes it hot or comedy of dance in Ruthenian dialect Around the world trip or When Vasiľ & Petro went round the world.
      Dance group Svitan celebrated 10-th years anniversary in 2008. They prepared very splendid dance show in their mother town Svidnik.
      The members of Dance group Svitan have danced on many stages in Slovakia and other countries as Czech republic, Ukraine, Romania and Poland. Svitan achieved Diplom on International folk festival in Centre of Europe in Rakhiv, Ukraine. The members take place in Slovak and Czech ballroom competitions, where they got very good achievements. They have more than 50 performances per year and they have opened a lot of balls during 12 years of existence.
